Derek Hill Making Season Debut Wednesday
1 year agoWashington Nationals outfielder Derek Hill is playing his first big-league game of the season Wednesday as he takes on the St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Miles Mikolas. A 2014 first-round pick of the Tigers, Hill has been unable to put it together at the MLB level with a .240 average alongside four homers, nine steals, and a .630 OPS across just 254 trips to the plate for his career. However, Hill is raking at Triple-A this season with a .324 BA, eight HR, 10 SB, and a .914 OPS across 204 plate appearances. Known more for his glove, it will be interesting to see if Hill's renewed power/speed combination can translate into the big leagues at age 27.
