Derek Barnett Gauging The Market To Play Elsewhere
2 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett is gauging the market for the potential to play elsewhere in 2023, according to sources. The Eagles plan to keep Barnett but also understand that a deep pass-rushing roster limits his playing time. The first-rounder in 2017 should have trade value, but it remains to be seen if the Eagles will find the right fit with another team. The 27-year-old is also trying to return from an ACL tear that he suffered in the season opener last year. There should be plenty of interest from pass-rush-needy teams heading into the 2023 regular season. In his six seasons in Philly, Barnett has recorded 147 tackles (95 solo), 21.5 sacks, 36 tackles for loss, 76 QB hits, and three fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown) in 65 games (45 starts).
