Denny McCarthy's calling card has always been the putter. The American golfer has five Top 25 results and a couple of Top 10 finishes too. However, he has not truly battled for a win on a Sunday yet. One of the biggest problems for McCarthy in 2025 has been the third round. He averages 30 putts on what would mostly be Saturdays. Even his birdie or better conversion percentage (31.5%) is 102nd or slightly below tour average. Consistency has been missing for McCarthy even though he ranks 17th in strokes gained to putting (0.54). While scoring ranks inside the Top 50, overall birdie average is 91st. That is why a few more putts need to drop and the Valero Texas Open could be that place.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
