Denny Hamlin Won't Have To Start at Rear Following Spin in Qualifying
1 year agoLate in the final round of qualifying for the Bank of America ROVAL 400, Denny Hamlin brought out the caution as his No. 11 Toyota spun out on the track. Due to this, Hamlin wasn't able to complete his final qualifying lap and will officially start from ninth in this weekend's race. Due to the spin, his Joe Gibbs Racing pit crew had to look the car over to determine whether any fixes were necessary due to possible damage, but the team found nothing really wrong with the car. If they did have to make any fixes, Hamlin would likely have to start from the rear for this weekend's race. That is not the case, though. Hamlin has a 50-point cushion over the Playoff cut line heading into this weekend's race, which means he basically just needs to avoid catastrophe to advance to the next round.
