1 month agoHeading into the Bank of America Roval 400 race day, Denny Hamlin currently has a 30-point cushion on the cut line in the playoffs, and while that is definitely a good gap from being cut, it's hard to consider him anywhere near definitely safe on advancing to the Round of 8. One problem on race day could find Hamlin in a position where he will need to fight to advance in the playoffs, and a road course isn't the best place for him to do that. Over the last 14 races on this track type, Hamlin has just one top-10 finish and six results outside of the top 20 entirely. At the Charlotte Roval specifically, Hamlin has finished between 12th and 19th in four of his six career starts. The outlier results during that span was a 37th-place finish last season and a fifth-place run in 2021. Fantasy owners should expect Hamlin to play if safe on race day at the Charlotte Roval, as he will be focusing more on advancing in the playoffs rather than having his best day on the track. He's a decent option to have some exposure to on DraftKings since he's priced at just $7,100 this weekend, but there are better options than Denny on Sunday.--Jordan McAbee
