Dennis Smith Jr.'s Second-Half Fantasy Outlook
7 years agoDallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. will be a fun but possibly also a frustrating player to own during the second half of the season. The rookie from North Carolina State is having a solid first year in the league, averaging 14.8 points, 4.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game, but he's got potential to do a lot better. Smith has a high usage rate at 28.8 percent, and he's getting 14 shots per game, but he's been very inefficient on the floor, making less than 40 percent of his attempts. He really should be around the 20-point mark in every game, but he's so far scored at least 20 points just 10 times. Four of those came during a five-game stretch last month. He'll be a great fantasy asset once he finds consistency, but until that happens, you just have to live through the growing pains.
