Denard Span With Rare Bout of Power Sunday Versus Philadelphia
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Denard Span showed off some power Sunday versus Philadelphia. He led off the bottom of the first inning by hitting a solo HR. It was his first homer of the season. He would end up going 2-for-4 with a walk. The walk came with the bases loaded to drive in his second run of the game. He now has 10 RBI to go with a .360 OBP. Span comes with some positives. The reports say he will hit leadoff on occasion. Span is coming off a 2017 season where he batted .272 with 12 home runs and 12 steals. As long as he gets to 450 plate appearances, he should serve as a steady and safe fourth or fifth outfielder in a 12-team mixed league.
