Dellin Betances The One Negative For New York Thursday
7 years agoThe New York Yankees enjoyed their first Opening Day victory in seven years with an all-around great team performance at the Rogers Centre on Thursday. With starting pitcher Luis Severino and outfielder Giancarlo Stanton leading the way, the only weak point for the club was reliever Dellin Betances and his continued struggles. The 30-year-old allowed a home run to the first batter he saw, New York’s only run and one of only two hits surrendered on the day. While he would retire the next three batters to escape the inning, Betances’ confidence surely took yet another hit. This is especially disappointing considering how good the native New Yorker said he felt entering the new season.
