Dellin Betances Placed On Injured List
4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Dellin Betances was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday due to right lat tightness. This move comes a day after Betances allowed the winning run to score in the Mets' 2-1 loss to the Yankees on Saturday courtesy of a wild pitch. After the contest, Betances indicated that he "felt like [he] didn't have anything today." Betances has been inconsistent all season primarily due to the fact that his velocity is still not getting beyond 95 mph. As a result, Betances has been an inconsistent and volatile option out of the Mets bullpen. On the season, Betances owns a 6.10 ERA, a 1.65 WHIP, and has just eight strikeouts against seven walks in 10 1/3 innings pitched. Despite the fact that Seth Lugo is now in the starting rotation indefinitely, it is unlikely that Betances would be in the mix for saves once he returns from the IL. With over a half of the season completed, it is unlikely that Betances will rediscover the velocity that made him a lockdown reliever with the Yankees. He can be dropped in all redraft formats at this point.
