3 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Dellin Betances (shoulder) allowed five runs on Wednesday for Single-A St. Lucie. Betances walked two, allowed three hits and recorded only one out in his appearance. Betances has appeared in only one game this season on April 7 and has been sidelined since with a right shoulder impingement. The oft-injured Betances has shown a decline in velocity over the past two seasons, including this past spring training. Betances, coming off a late-season lat injury in 2020 and shoulder and Achilles injuries in 2019, has not been healthy since joining the Mets prior to last season. Despite potentially nearing a return to the team, one has to wonder what contribution, if any, he will provide to the Mets the rest of the way.
