4 years agoNew York Mets right-handed reliever Dellin Betances was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a right shoulder impingement. Betances made his 2021 debut on Wednesday against the Phillies and allowed one earned run and walk in one inning pitched. The oft-injured Betances has shown a decline in velocity over the past two seasons, including this past spring training. Betances, coming off a late-season lat injury in 2020, and shoulder and Achillies injuries in 2019, has not been healthy since joining the Mets prior to the 2020 campaign. In 2020, in just 11 2/3 innings pitched, Betances posted a 7.71 ERA, a 2.06 WHIP, and an 11:12 K:BB. It remains to be seen how long Betances will remain sidelined with this latest injury. For now, Betances, who has been a bust free agent signing for the Mets, should be left on fantasy waiver wires.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
