Dellin Betances Feeling Confidence As Season Begins
7 years agoFollowing a 2017 season that saw his quality suffer a steep decline, New York Yankees relief pitcher Dellin Betances didn’t do himself any favors with his spring training. The All-Star reliever pitched to an ugly 6.75 ERA, but he still feels good about his ability to perform this season. The 30-year-old isn’t specifically looking at the number of runs he surrendered, but rather his 15 strikeouts and two walks in 6 2/3 innings. Last season, walks became a monumental issue for Betances, which is the reason for his upbeat mood over his chances. Entering the new campaign, he’s back to an old position as the seventh-inning man, easily behind Aroldis Chapman and David Robertson.
