He is a better defensive player (0.9 dWAR with 119 putouts) than left fielder Joey Gallo (-0.5 dWAR with 65 putouts). He is a better offensive threat than backup outfielder Carlos Tocci with a slash line of .202/.295/.286 compared to .080/.148/.080, respectively. DeShields remains relevant as a top-10 leader in steals with 12 bags on 14 attempts, but he provides nothing else sexy to fantasy owners.--Aaron
