Delino DeShields Activated From The Disabled List
6 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields (finger) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Saturday. DeShields had been out since fracturing his finger after being hit by a pitch August 16. DeShields did not go straight back into the lineup Saturday, with Joey Gallo playing center field instead. Gallo in center field presents the Rangers with a way to get all of their best hitters on the field at the same time. However, four of the last six days Carlos Tocci has played center field and prior to his injury it seemed as though DeShields had reclaimed the starting job from Tocci. I expect to see DeShields play regularly in the last month of the season. The uncertainty over his spot in the lineup makes him hard to trust in weekly leagues. However, in daily leagues, DeShields speed makes him a useful guy to have on your roster.
