Deivi Garcia Strikes Out Nine In Latest Triple-A Start
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Deivi Garcia turned heads in his latest outing for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Sunday afternoon. Garcia pitched five innings, allowing a pair of hits, a run, and one walk while striking out nine batters to earn the victory. The 21-year-old registered 12 swings-and-misses, mixing in a fair amount of off-speed stuff to the Lehigh Valley batters. Garcia has now pitched 13 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season, recording a 3.38 ERA and 1.28 WHIP while fanning 19 hitters. Garcia was recalled to the big club for a spot start earlier this season, though he might see a permanent call-up later in the year if he can keep pitching like this.
