Deebo Samuel Leads Team In Receiving En Route To Title
10 months agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel led the team in receiving but didn't score a touchdown during a 34-31 victory over the Detroit Lions for the NFC Championship on Sunday at Levi's Stadium. Samuel caught eight of nine targets for 89 yards through the air and carried the ball three times for seven yards rushing. Unlike teammate Brandon Aiyuk with his spectacular catch and subsequent touchdown, Samuel's signature moment in the comeback win is hard to pinpoint. But Samuel kept the chains moving, leading all 49ers in non-touchdown first downs with five. He also seemed to show no ill effects from a shoulder injury that forced him out of action in the Divisional Round against Green Bay and briefly threatened his availability for this one. Head coach Kyle Shanahan will now have two weeks to draw up some crafty plans for the versatile playmaker before the 49ers head to Las Vegas and Super Bowl LVIII.
