Dee Gordon To Start At 2B Next Year
6 years agoSeattle Mariners second baseman Dee Gordon will move back to second base as the full-time starter in 2019 after the M's traded Robinson Cano to the Mets, according to general manager Jerry Dipoto. Seattle is banking on Gordon bouncing back to his levels in 2015 and 2017. He hit .302/.327/.392 with 10 doubles, two triples, a homer, 13 RBI and 16 steals to begin the year but then fell off after fracturing his right big toe on May 9. He slashed just .251/.268/.327 with 14 steals in 95 games the rest of the way. Gordon also wasn't as comfortable playing the outfield, so a return to the keystone and better health could make him a bounce-back option, mainly for his speed.
