Davis Schneider Getting A Breather On Friday
4 months agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman/outfielder Davis Schneider is not in the team's starting lineup on Friday versus the visiting New York Yankees. Schneider has had an atrocious month at the plate in June, going 13-for-76 (.171) with three home runs, two doubles, six RBI, six walks and 22 strikeouts in 23 games to drop his season line to .220/.314/.419 with a .733 OPS. The 25-year-old utility man does have 10 home runs on the year but hasn't been of much help otherwise to fantasy managers. With Schneider getting a day to rest on Friday, rookie Spencer Horwitz will start at second base and bat second, while rookie Addison Barger will play left field and bat eighth against Yankees veteran right-hander Marcus Stroman. Horwitz has handled big-league pitching so far in his first 46 at-bats, collecting 16 hits (two homers) while driving in six and scoring nine runs.
