Davis Riley In Poor Form Ahead Of 3M
3 months agoDavis Riley is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, but you wouldn't know it by looking at his recent form. The 27-year-old University of Alabama alum notched his first victory with partner Nick Hardy at the Zurich Classic back in April of 2023, and seemingly came out of nowhere for his second win at the Charles Schwab Challenge two months ago. In his five starts since then, he's missed three cuts and added on middling results of T48 and T57. Perhaps even more alarming, the ball-striking that led him to a handful of solid finishes in his first two seasons on Tour has fallen off of a cliff, as he's lost strokes in that category in 17 of his 19 measured starts in the 2024 calendar year. Davis also ranks 92nd in driving accuracy, 127th on approach, and 88th in birdie or better percentage over the last 24 rounds, all of which sound like a recipe for disaster at TPC Twin Cities. It should also be noted that Davis missed the cut in his only start at this event back in 2022. Recent win equity at a $6,700 may be enticing for fantasy manager, but rostering him in his current form will likely lead to disappointment at the 3M Open.
