Davis Martin Opening Season In Starting Rotation
17 seconds agoChicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Davis Martin will open the season in the starting rotation. Martin spent most of his time in the rotation last season and will open the 2025 campaign in a similar role. Through his 10 starts last season, Martin held a 4.37 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP across 47 1/3 innings of work. He tallied 44 punchouts and showed weak command as he served up 20 free passes. He allowed four or more runs in three of his starts. Under the hood, he generated a modest 4.02 xERA with a solid .226 xBA. He also generated ground balls at an above-average 46.9 percent rate, placing him in the 75th percentile. Across 76 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level, Martin tallied an impressive 92 punchouts but has yet to flash this strikeout upside in the majors. However, given that he will have a role in the rotation, he will have value in AL-only formats.
