David Robertson Pitches In The Eighth Inning Wednesday
2 years agoNew York Mets right-hander David Robertson threw a scoreless eighth inning in a 7-6 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Robertson did not allow a baserunner and needed just 12 pitches to get through the inning. The appearance is notable because the Mets chose not to deploy Robertson for a potential save situation in the ninth inning, instead turning to Adam Ottavino, who promptly blew the save by serving up a walk-off solo homer. Robertson has been the Mets' best reliever in the early stages of the season but there's a chance he is used more in high-leverage situations and not exclusively as a closer for New York.
