David Robertson Makes Spring Debut
7 years agoAfter dealing with a bout of food poisoning, New York Yankees reliever David Robertson finally made his spring training debut Saturday against the New York Mets. He faced just two batters and tossed just six pitches, but they were all strikes, resulting in two strikeouts. The 32-year-old appears very likely to be the club’s eighth-inning pitcher as the setup man ahead Dellin Betances on the depth chart but behind Aroldis Chapman. Robertson returned to the Yankees last season after a move at the trade deadline from the Chicago White Sox. He appeared in 30 games for the club, going 5-0 with a 1.03 ERA, striking out 51 batters in 35 innings. Expect Robertson to see much more game time in the buildup to Opening Day.
