David Robertson Agrees With Phillies
6 years agoFree-agent relief pitcher David Robertson agreed to a two-year deal that will guarantee him at least $23 million with the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. He will make $10 million this year, $11 million in 2020 and has a $12 million club option ($2 million buyout) for the 2021 season. Robertson went 8-3 with a 3.23 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 11.8 K/9 and five saves in 69 outings for the Yankees in 2018. He has 137 career saves, with three straight 30-plus save campaigns from 2014-16 with the White Sox and Yankees. He immediately becomes the favorite to close in Philly on a team expected to compete for a division title, which makes Robertson quickly a top-flight fantasy closer.
