David Price Is Confident In New Spring Routine
7 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher David Price praises the new spring regimen, according to Nick Friar of SouthCoastToday.com. Price is supportive of the gradual and methodical progression of the staff's pitching plan. This year, he has been allowed to build up his pitches to the point he feels more prepared than past years to face live hitters with more pitches. Price is scheduled to pitch on Monday in a controlled minor-league game; he expects to incorporate his curveball and changeup with his fastball. “I’m probably going to bring changeups along towards the end, changeup and curveball,” Price said. “Last two bullpens I started throwing my slider to the right side of the plate and my cutter back to the left side. That all felt really good, so I’m excited for it.” Price had an injury riddled season in 2017, but finished the year strong in the bullpen. Price has had a strong offseason building strength and mobility in his shoulder and elbow. Additionally, Price is supportive of the team's willingness to incorporate more analytics to the game, as long as it does not change the type of pitcher he has become. While a risky choice in drafts, if everything comes together, Price could be a tremendous value if he can return to his former self.
