David Peterson Decent In Mets Loss To Jays
4 years agoNew York Mets left-handed pitcher David Peterson was solid over five innings of work against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday in the Mets' 7-3 loss. Peterson allowed only three hits and two walks, striking out two, over his five innings. Unfortunately, one of those three hits Peterson gave up was a two-run home run accounting for the only two earned runs he allowed. Peterson, who took the loss on Sunday, now holds a 4.17 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP to go with 26 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings pitched. Peterson remains a serviceable streaming option for those managers who have been hit hard by the injury bug as we head into the home stretch of the season. His next probable start is scheduled for Friday against the Braves who he recorded a quality start against on August 2. Of course, given the fact that the Braves offense has been putting up huge numbers recently, managers may want to keep Peterson benched for that outing and wait out Peterson's current turn through the rotation.
