David Hamilton Returns For Red Sox
5 months agoBoston Red Sox infielder David Hamilton (side) is back in the starting lineup for the Red Sox on Wednesday against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays, playing shortstop and batting second against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman. Hamilton injured his left side in Monday's series opener in Canada and was forced to start Tuesday's game on the bench, but he's back in there on Wednesday for fantasy managers. The 26-year-old picked up a stolen base and a run scored as a pinch-hitter in Wednesday's game, signaling his injury wasn't very serious. The former eighth-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in 2019 out of Texas didn't look good in his first 14 MLB games in 2023 but has been a different hitter this year, slashing .284/.336/.440 with four homers, 12 RBI and 19 steals in just 49 games. At the very least, Hamilton has become a waiver-wire pickup in fantasy leagues for his speed alone.
