David Bednar Strikes Out The Side Thursday
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher David Bednar struck out the side in 15 pitches on Thursday afternoon in a 6-1 victory over the Braves. Bednar earned a hold with his fifth-inning performance in which he struck out Ender Inciarte and Ryan Goins looking before getting a swinging strikeout against Austin Riley. One of the prospects acquired in the Joe Musgrove trade, Bednar has looked sharp in two outings so far this spring as he has allowed no baserunners while striking out five in two innings. He's an interesting add in saves-plus-holds formats, and he could potentially find himself in line for saves later on in the season.
