David Bednar Notches 38th Save
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates closer David Bednar picked up the save on Thursday, finishing off a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Bednar allowed just a walk and struck out two in his inning of work. The 28-year-old has been excellent for the Pirates this season, pitching to a 2.04 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 78 strikeouts in 66 ⅓ IP. He has converted 38 of his 41 save opportunities. Bednar will likely be back with the Buccos next year in the same role, giving him plenty of value. He should be drafted among the elite relief options.
