Boston Bruins right wing David Backes notched the primary assist on two of the Bruins three goals as they fell to Philadelphia in overtime on Sunday. Backes now has three assists in three games since returning from injury. Backes has struggled to be productive, as injuries have hampered the power forward’s season, but he may be picking up speed heading into the NHL playoffs. In 53 games, Backes has 12 goals and 19 assists. The veteran’s numbers have never been staggering, but they seem to be declining into the 35-45 point range. A 20-goal season is not out of the question, but fantasy owners shouldn’t have to reach high in a draft to secure secondary scoring from Backes next year.--Kevin Acorn
