Boston Bruins right winger David Backes scored the eventual game-winner Thursday in Boston’s 5-1 rout of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Backes made a strong play in front of the net to stand his ground and potted a pass from center David Krejci. Backes had scored in each of Boston’s final two regular season games and looks to carry that momentum with him into the first round of the playoffs. The Bruins are giving Backes opportunities to showcase his strong presence in this series. Even though his time on ice was a shade under 16:00, he saw 5:04 on the power play, where he can impose net-front pressure on the Leafs defense and goalie Frederik Andersen.--Kevin Acorn
