Darcy Kuemper Shuts the Door on Nashville, Makes 49 Saves
5 years agoArizona Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper put an exclamation point on the series, stopping 49 of 52 shots on the way to eliminating the Predators from the qualifying round. Kuemper had not faced more than 50 shots in a game this season until Friday night, but proved to be more than up to the task, recording his third game of the series with a save percentage of at least .930 percent. In each of those three games, Kuemper faced at least 40 shots, something that only happened once during the regular season this year. No team in the qualifying round controlled a lower percentage of the shot attempts in their games than Arizona (43.8 percent), who also allowed the highest average shots against per game (40.8 shots per game). Kuemper should be a solid source of saves going forward and has cemented himself as Arizona's starter even when Antti Raanta returns.

Darcy Kuemper Earns Victory On Wednesday
2 months agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced en route to defeating the Florida Panthers on Wednesday evening. His lone mistake came in the second period when Evan Rodrigues found the back on the power-play. Kuemper then shut the door for the remainder of the contest. This was a nice bounce-back showing for the 34-year-old, as he allowed three goals on just 21 shots in his previous game. However, despite that disappointing performance, Kuemper has been quite productive over his last seven starts. During this stretch, the 34-year-old has posted a 5-2 record with a .957% SV and a 1.15 GAA. Kuemper remains a high-end goaltender in all formats, playing behind one of the best defensive units in the league.
