Dany Jimenez Struggling With Velocity In Camp
2 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Dany Jimenez has been struggling with his velocity so far in spring training. The 29-year-old Dominican right-hander got up to the low-90s on the radar gun in his most recent Cactus League outing, but before that he topped out in the upper-80s with his fastball. It's something to keep an eye on after Jimenez ended the 2022 campaign with right shoulder issues. Jimenez is still one to watch for saves in Oakland, but hopefully he'll show more life with his pitches as we near Opening Day at the end of March. In his rookie season in 2022, he had a 3.41 ERA (3.46 FIP), 1.19 WHIP, his first 11 saves (a team high) and 34 strikeouts in 34 1/3 relief innings. Walks could also be an issue again, so Jimenez is merely an option for save speculators in deeper leagues.
