Dany Jimenez Records His Third Save On Sunday
3 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Dany Jimenez converted his third save in as many opportunities on Sunday. He closed out the team's 2-0 victory over the Texas Rangers, pitching a scoreless ninth inning while allowing two hits. The 28-year-old is clearly a favorite ninth inning option of the team. However, his last two saves have come with Lou Trivino on the COVID-related injured list. Trivino was 2-for-2 in save opportunities prior to landing on the list. Jimenez hasn't allowed a run over the seven innings he's pitched this year while Trivino has allowed two earned runs over 3.2 innings. There's a good chance that Jimenez can pitch his way to the top of the closer hierarchy in Oakland, but Trivino should still get a shot at maintaining his share of save opportunities once he's back.
