Dansby Swanson Agrees To Seven-Year Deal With Cubs
2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs and free shortstop Dansby Swanson agreed to a seven-year, $177 million contract on Saturday. The 28-year-old lands in Chicago after the Braves, Red Sox and Dodgers expressed interest in singing the shortstop. He is coming one of the best seasons in his career, slashing .277/.329/.447 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 99 runs, and 18 stolen bases over 162 games in 2022. The former Atlanta Brave is one of the most reliable shortstops in the game and has played in 160 games in back-to-back seasons. Swanson is locked in as Chicago's starting shortstop, while Nico Hoerner will shift over to second base. The move to Chicago shouldn't affect Swanson's fantasy value too much, and he is ranked at No. 10 in the latest Rotoballer shortstop rankings.
