Danny Duffy Hit Hard Again
7 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy was knocked around once again on Monday, as the Angels put up four earned runs on seven hits and three walks in just five innings. Duffy has majorly struggled this season, and things aren’t looking like they’re going to improve anytime soon. Amazingly enough, his 5.81 ERA is actually slightly better than his 6.06 FIP. His BABIP of .294 is just a hair above his career average of .292, and his strand rate of 74 percent is just under his average strand rate of 75.5 percent, and his 9.1 percent swinging-strike rate is the lowest it’s been in three years. His 4.39 BB/9 is more than double what it was in 2016, and his strikeout rate is down by 1.07 per nine innings compared to last season. He also surrendered two more home runs on Monday, so he’s now tied for the second most surrendered this year in the majors.
