Danny Duffy Chased In The Fifth
7 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy was going on three days rest, and the risk didn't pay off. Duffy left the game in the fifth inning with two runners on. Those runners would come around to score, eventually hanging six earned on Duffy. Duffy allowed 10 hits on the day and only struck out two. Manager Ned Yost and Duffy both insisted the poor performance was unrelated to the short rest, and Duffy was adamant that he felt great during and after the outing, even if it didn't yield the desired results. Duffy remains winless this season.
