Daniel Poncedeleon Optioned, Austin Gomber Recalled
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Daniel Poncedeleon, who threw seven no-hit innings in his major league debut on Monday, is being optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday to make room for starting pitcher Austin Gomber. Gomber will make his first big league start against the Reds on Tuesday. Poncedeleon will surely be back up at some point after his performance Monday. Gomber has a 3.77 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 10 K's over 14 1/3 relief innings for St. Louis this year and is a decent streaming option in deeper leagues. He'll have a tough time topping Poncedeleon's performance, though.
