Daniel Ponce de Leon Walks Six On Thursday
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Daniel Ponce de Leon got the start in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Houston Astros. He ended up throwing 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits but walking six and only striking out three. He's put up a 4.76 ERA in spring and still has a chance to win a spot in the Cardinals starting rotation, at least a temporary one until Miles Mikolas (shoulder) returns. Still, Ponce de Leon's lack of strikeout upside and occasional bouts with bad control make him a risky fantasy play without much upside.
