Daniel Murphy To Be Acquired By Cubs
6 years agoWashington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy is heading to the Windy City as he was acquired by the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday afternoon. Prospect infielder Andruw Monasterio is going back to the Nationals. Murphy was recovering from microfracture knee surgery for the first 63 games of the season and struggled upon his return. Since then, he has batted .340 over his past 30 games and adds even more postseason experience to a savvy Cubs roster. It seems as though Murphy will not occupy an everyday role with the team, as the Cubs are deep enough to offer him a decent amount of rest. For this reason, there should be a small down-tick in Murphy's at-bat totals, but he will still offer solid production to fantasy owners.
