Daniel Hudson Records First Save Of 2023 Wednesday
1 year agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Daniel Hudson was trusted with the ninth inning on Wednesday, trying to protect a two-run lead against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He allowed no runs and worked around one hit and two walks while striking out a pair. It was Hudson's first save of the season after beginning the year on the injured list and missing the first three months. So far, across three innings, the 36-year-old has yet to give up a run while posting a 1.67 WHIP and 35.7% strikeout rate. Evan Phillips is still the main ninth-inning arm, but Hudson has some experience closing with 33 career saves under his belt and could earn a handful of saves this year.
