7 months agoDaniel Hemric showed a little extra speed in his Kaulig Racing car. Along with A.J. Allmendinger, the team fielded two cars in the Top 15. That is significant. Hemric starts from the 14th position but rebounded from a 25th place average in practice. By merely gaining several tenths of a second, Hemric, like Allmendinger, showed their Chevy can handle the turns (particularly Turn 4). The 33-year old qualifying inside the Top 20 in consecutive races shows tangible signs of progress. Hemric finished ninth last week at Talladega. Though Dover is a unique one mile track, Hemric illustrated he can drive and survive. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
