Daniel Bard Records His Fifth Save
3 years agoColorado Rockies closer Daniel Bard sealed the team's 7-6 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. He pitched the ninth inning and allowed one hit, no walks and no runs while recording two strikeouts. He earned his fifth save of the year. It's been a rollercoaster of a season for Bard, who now has a 5.29 ERA on the year as well as three blown saves. However, he still maintains a clear hold on the closer role in Colorado as he has five of the team's six saves on the year. The other save went to Carlos Estevez (finger) back in April. Estevez just returned from the injured list, but shouldn't pose as a threat to Bard's save opportunities. Mychal Givens would likely be next up for saves is Bard blows a few more.
