D'Angelo Russell Settles For 19 Points Wednesday Night
4 years agoMinnesota Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell shot a nice 4-for-7 from downtown on Wednesday but finished with only 19 points in a painful 97-96 loss to Orlando. The Wolves blew a 20-point lead in the second half and ended up losing via a buzzer-beating triple. Russell shot 7-for-17 overall from the field, adding six assists, two rebounds, and two blocks. With Karl-Anthony Towns (COVID-19) out, Russell is the No. 1 scoring option for Minnesota but the team needed just a little bit more from him in the game. He gets a chance to provide it vs. Atlanta next in a very favorable matchup against Trae Young, whose work on the defensive end leaves a lot to be desired and as a result, the Hawks are giving up 24.5 points per 48 minutes to opposing point guards.
