Dan Straily Released By Marlins
6 years agoThe Miami Marlins have released starter Dan Straily and will be going with their younger arms to start the season. Straily gave up 11 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings this spring, while striking out 14 and walking five. Young fireballer Sandy Alcantara was a surprise choice to start the year and likely took Straily's spot. Straily has been throwing a declining number of innings since his high of 191 with the Reds in 2016, and hasn't achieved the promise shown in his 2013 rookie season with Oakland when he came in fourth in rookie of the year voting. He'll try to sign on with another team and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
