Dan Altavilla Records First Save For Mariners
4 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Dan Altavilla gave up one hit, struck out one batter and recorded his first save for Seattle in Wednesday's win over the Angels. Once Yoshihisa Hirano landed on the injured list before the season, it was assumed that Matt Magill would be in line for saves until Hirano returned but that hasn't been the case so far. Altavilla has a career 3.59 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in five seasons with the Mariners and this was his first career save. The Mariners aren't expected to be in too many save situations this season and the Mariners appear to be going closer-by-committee until Hirano returns, so it's not worth picking any of these pitchers up to chase saves in the meantime.
