Damiere Byrd Adding Speed To Offense
Damiere Byrd continues to add an inflection of speed to a Bears offense that desperately needs it. Chicago's offense struggled mightily last season and overhauled not just the quarterback position, but the wide receivers room. Byrd was signed in the offseason after spending last season with the Patriots and the Bears also brought in Marquise Goodwin. Byrd is competing for the WR3 role in the offense with Goodwin and expect to see the speedster on the field at times with backup Justin Fields when the preseason begins.

Commanders Signing Damiere Byrd
Damiere Byrd following a workout, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report. The veteran is entering his ninth season in the league, but he's never finished higher than the WR67 in fantasy football. He spent the last two years with the Atlanta Falcons but registered just two targets during one game in 2023. Byrd represents a low-risk signing for the Commanders, and he'll be tasked with competing for a roster spot while leaving his veteran impact on some of his younger teammates in Washington.

Texans Sign Damiere Byrd To Practice Squad
Damiere Byrd to their practice squad on Wednesday. Byrd was released from the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad in late November after playing in just one game for the team in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings, when he failed to catch either of his two targets while playing 19 offensive snaps. In 14 games for the Falcons in 2022, he caught 13 of his 23 targets for 268 yards and two touchdowns. The 30-year-old will give the Texans some extra receiver depth for their Divisional Round game this Saturday after they placed Noah Brown (shoulder) on Injured Reserve earlier in the week. Byrd has played in 76 NFL games (28 starts) over eight seasons and has 130 catches for 1,689 yards and seven touchdowns in his career.

Damiere Byrd Waived By Carolina
Damiere Byrd (hamstring) has been waived by the team. The veteran wideout was on injured reserve with a hamstring issue and received an injury settlement. Byrd wasn't a lock to make the Panthers' 53-man roster even when he was healthy but the injury put a major damper on his prospects. He's now free to sign anywhere but the hamstring issue is likely to play a factor on when/where he can sign. The veteran journeyman has totaled 1,689 receiving yards to go along with seven scores across a seven-year NFL career with five different teams.

Damiere Byrd Placed On Injured Reserve
Damiere Byrd (hamstring) has been placed on the Injured Reserve list. Last week, head coach Frank Reich said he'd be out at least a month, but likely six or eight weeks. That said, the injury is not expected to sideline him for the entire 2023 season, meaning he could be activated from the IR list sometime in October. The 30-year-old wideout is not expected to be on the fantasy radar this season but he could be useful as a return specialist for Carolina. The Panthers signed veteran defensive back Collin Duncan in a corresponding move.
