1 year agoHouston Texans running back Dameon Pierce had five carries for 30 yards in Houston's 17-13 win over the New Orleans Saints. More importantly, though, he was the only running back that saw playing time with the first unit. In all nine snaps with C.J. Stroud and the starters, Pierce never came out. Devin Singletary's snaps on Sunday came with the second unit. We shouldn't read too much into a preseason game. However, it is encouraging to see Pierce play every snap with the first team. Pierce is coming off an impressive rookie season in 2022, running for 939 yards and four touchdowns. With the team signing Singletary this offseason, many fantasy managers were worried about split touches for Houston's backfield. However, if Sunday's preseason finale was any indication, Pierce could be locked into a more significant role than some had previously thought. Pierce is a great RB2 on your fantasy rosters in 2023 and could be in for a more prominent role in his second NFL season.--Joey Pollizze - RotoBaller
