Stars In The Market For Help On Defense
9 months agoThe Dallas Stars are in search of help on the back end as they approach the March 8 NHL trade deadline. The club's general manager, Jim Nill, admitted as much in a conversation with The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun. "It's fair," Nill said. "We've got a solid 13 forwards up top already and then I know I've got a bunch of young guys down below... Defense, you can never have enough defensemen. So that's something we're looking at." It appears the club is most likely to look for help on the right side of their blueline as Jani Hakanpaa and Nils Lundqvist are the lone right-shot defenders on the roster. The Calgary Flames' Chris Tanev is available as perhaps the top right-shot blueliner on the trade market but could cost as much as a first-round pick in a swap.
