Curtis McElhinney Sharp In New Year's Eve Victory
6 years agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Curtis McElhinney allowed just one goal on 23 shots in Monday's home victory against the Philadelphia Flyers. He slapped the brakes on a three-game losing streak in regulation, and picked up his first win in the month of December in four starts. It also helped that he received some offensive support, as he had received a total of two goals from his offense across the past four starts. McElhinney improved to 8-5-1 with 2.22 goals-against average and .923 save percentage through his first 14 starts. He has emerged this season as a surprisingly dependable No. 2 fantasy backstop.
