Cubs Sign Vinny Nittoli On Thursday
2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs signed veteran right-hander Vinny Nittoli to a minor-league deal on Thursday that includes an invite to major-league spring training. He will earn $775,000 in the big leagues or $162,000 in the minors. The 32-year-old pitched in just two games for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022 and also in the minors for the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays. He quickly finds a home after being released by the Phillies earlier this week. Nittoli will compete in camp to serve as relief depth for the Cubbies in 2023. He has only pitched three innings the last two seasons with the Phillies and Seattle Mariners, allowing two earned runs on a homer while walking three and striking out two.
